What type of feeder should I use? All three FREEBIRD blends work in hopper feeders, tube feeders, platform feeders, and mesh feeders. The No-Mess Blend also works well in window feeders since there are no shells to drop.
Does FREEBIRD bird seed contain corn or milo? No. FREEBIRD never uses corn, milo, wheat, or cheap filler grains. These ingredients are common in budget bird seed because they're inexpensive, but most wild birds avoid them entirely.
Where is FREEBIRD bird seed sourced? All FREEBIRD seeds are sourced from trusted US farms. We do not use imported seed or artificial additives of any kind.
How long will a bag last? This depends on how many birds visit your feeder and how often you fill it. Generally a 5lb bag lasts 1-2 weeks for a moderately active backyard feeder. The 7lb No-Mess Blend tends to last longer since there's no shell waste.
Do squirrels eat FREEBIRD bird seed? Squirrels will eat sunflower seeds from any brand. However our Sunflower Safflower Blend is naturally squirrel-resistant — squirrels strongly dislike the bitter taste of safflower, so they tend to leave it alone.
How should I store my bird seed? Store in a cool, dry place in an airtight container. All FREEBIRD bags include a resealable zipper to help preserve freshness between fills. Avoid storing in direct sunlight or humid areas.
